Foxx foxed by Bollywood playback
Prashant Rai, who is lucky enough to share screen space with Jamie Foxx, shares his experience of working with the powerhouse actor who plays the villain Electro in The Amazing Spiderman 2. Other than all the important acting lessons and tips that Prashant acquired from the talented Hollywood actor during his 15-day shoot for Marc Webb’s next, he mentions one episode where Jamie Foxx apparently was all praise for Bollywood actors. He was under the impression that they have the ability to sing and dance perfectly at the same time. That is when Prashant cleared his doubts and explained the concept of playback singing which Foxx found hard to believe and was rather surprised. The Grammy Award winning musician Jamie Foxx, said Prashant, was very generous in his praise for the Indian film industry. Prashant says, “One freezing night Jamie happened to take interest in where I belong and so on and we instantly hit it off. He happened to ask me whether I have taken singing lessons and appreciated how Bollywood actors sing and dance correctly at the same time.” Prashant sure did have a fun time explaining to Jamie how it works in India. He adds, “I started laughing. I initially thought he was kidding but he looked too serious to be fooling around. Finally I told him about the playback singers and how actors lip sync and dance on screen. The dance bit is real.”
