A celebration of playwrights

Shernaz Patel praises the work that Writers Bloc has achieved in producing original scripts over the last 15 years.

The British Council, in association with Rage Productions and Royal Court Theatre, will be presenting a number of on-stage readings and performances of original plays from December to March. These are all original manuscripts written by young and aspiring playwrights, who have been associated with the Writers’ Bloc. The programme will kick off on December 2, with a Marathi play, Shillak. A workshop in scriptwriting for plays by Anuvab Pal will follow on December 3.

Founder-partner of Rage Productions, Shernaz Patel praises the work that Writers Bloc has achieved in producing original scripts over the last 15 years. “Writers Bloc has championed the burning need for new stories and new plays written by our own young playwrights about stories about the India we live in today. The diverse stories in the upcoming showcase traverse the length and breadth of our country,” she says.
