A flare' for fashion

If you've religiously been living in skinny fits, here's an ultra-flattering trend that's looking to replace.

Flared jeans are in vogue right now and we can see why! Exuding a 70s vibe, this comfortable, bold and classy look is popular and is even being sported by Bollywood celebrities like Deepika Padukone, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Athiya Shetty.

With the retro revival in full swing these days, this timeless classic is back. Natasha Tyagi, a designer says, “It is the current fashion trend now and a lot of people are wearing them. It mostly suits women who are taller as it adds to your curves. It is necessary to wear these pants with high chunk of heels as it makes the legs look more slender and longer. Pairing hoops or fringe earrings with these jeans adds to the look too.”

She further adds, “These denims should not be worn with flats as it will make you look shorter. Avoid wearing long tops, instead, go for tucked in shirts or balloon sleeve tops.”

The most important thing to keep in mind is that you should stick to a colour palette that you are confident about. Stylist and fashion blogger Oyindrila Ray Ghosh believes that it is all about proportion when it comes to wearing flared jeans. “Wearing these denims elongates your legs and it looks best with skinny stilettos which are perfect for dates. One can also pair printed toe pumps for office. A great trick that works with flared jeans is layering. One can wear a crop-top with layered jackets and a chain strap shoulder bag for a very sleek look,” she adds.

“When it comes to accessories, chunky necklaces are great for an evening look. Accessorising is the key and you just need to know how to style it well,” advises Oyindrila.

Pointing at one of the biggest blunders that women commit while flaunting the style, fashion designer Riya Kodali concludes by saying, “Most women try to overdo their hair and wear blingy necklaces which absolutely does not go with sporting a pair of flared jeans. Women should be more particular going with a minimal makeup to avoid that messed up look.”
