Now, a bespoke Ganesha figurine timepiece developed by Jaipur Watch Company
Jaipur Watch Company a premier home grown watch brand, which started off by making watches incorporating Pre-British Era coins, has now spread its wings wider and entered a completely new territory -- bespoke watch making.
Probably Jaipur Watch Company is the only one in India who is doing made to order custom 18 ct CNC Gold watches and has forayed into a custom made, tailor made bespoke service for its clients.
Speaking about the initiative, Gaurav Mehta of Jaipur Watch Company (Founder and Director) says, “A bespoke service is where the Clients approach us with their designs / vague sketches of what they want to create for themselves or as a gifting option. Their requests can be based on a design, their name engraved, a religious symbol, a hand painted dial and even some memorabilia’s which are close to the heart of our client.”
He further adds, “The process is extremely interesting, with many brainstorming sessions, ideas, stories behind a clients requests which eventually helps us in coming to a conclusion to what the client needs. Every project is enjoyable and satisfying. The process is time consuming as first we offer our clients 2D rendered image of the watch and once approved we a complete 360 degree sketch and a 3D image of the watch is shown to the client.”
According to Mehta, a bespoke watch can take anytime between 2 weeks to 6 months depending on the complexity and innovation required for the same.
He adds, “Recently upon a request by one of the clients, we at Jaipur Watch Company were asked to develop a watch with a thick figurine of Elephant God - known as Ganesha, in the dial of the watch. The client is a big devotee of Lord Ganesha, the most worshiped deities in the Hindu pantheon, and wanted the same in a watch that can be his family heirloom.”
He further states, “We, as watchmakers, had to ensure that the figurine would not get damaged in any way while punching a hole to accommodate the time hands. As per the client's wish, the watch was supposed to have an ETA Automatic movement, the Lord Ganesha minuscule statue in 22K gold and the circumference of the dial embedded with 1.6 carat diamonds. We are proud to say that the outcome was a masterpiece.”
The watch took almost 6 months to develop and execute.
