Fall' for this season

September is here and we deconstruct this stylish mix n' match look that works well during the next few months.

While the fashion fraternity long mourns summer’s departure, one can’t deny that excitement for the upcoming fall is building up in our hearts. And wardrobes too, for that matter. With the country still getting drenched on almost a daily basis, it feels like we might have to skip over the cozy fall transition. But there’s always a solution to mix ‘n’ match the blend, with tulles on jeans and bombers over chic tights. And to add that right amount of bling, neon boots are always in!

“It’s the season of boots, gorgeous textiles, and accessories,” says fashion designer Ambika Nair. However, there’s also a massive temptation to be lazy and repeat outfits. For all our woes, Ambika claims, “accessorising them with cosy fur jackets, satin heels in bright hues might serve as a solution. It adds contrast and shines too. Jeans paired with a blouse for a put together casual look, or long trenches with ballet flats to keep it sophisticated — the possibilities are endless.”

While fur has always been a go-to resort to channel one’s inner fashionista, faux fur is the way to be. Sartorially, so. Among other textures and patterns, designer Neetu Raheja suggests sheen and richness. “Go for golds — both chic glitter bomb and rich hues on rich velvets. Undone, deconstructed, mismatched layer after layer creates the perfect hot mess look. For people not as gutsy to flaunt bold leather leggings, florals, patchwork and neutral plaids are easy substitutes.”

Longer hemlines, knit sweaters and a leather jacket — there is a wide range of option to pick, choose and improvise from. Statement-making jackets paired with a light sweater and high-waisted jeans are a rave, believes Anusha Bajaj, another fashion expert. “Bomber jackets have created a storm when it comes to fashion trends this fall. Pair it with a floral or patterned jumpsuit to switch up to the ’70s look,” she shares. “To add a little ‘it’ factor to the otherwise solid look, add some neon coloured boots.”

Mingle and dabble with the idea of wearing each of your favourite fashion icon’s fall wardrobe; the restraints are gone. “Take Carrie Bradshaw’s iconic tulle outfit and give it your own edge by pairing it with worn out jeans,” suggests fashion blogger Priyanka N. “The best part about fall fashion is reinventing what’s already there with multiple layers and still appearing brand new and chic.”
