Beauty in the broken
Anupama Dayal’s collection celebrates being broken and the art of golden repair — a sartorial take on the Japanese art of mending a crack in a bowl with gold, changing the damage into a thing of beauty. The key motif is the starfish — its ability to regenerate new limbs when the old ones get damaged makes it a symbol of self-renewal. The collection features patchwork in eclectic prints with gold edging. The garments celebrate a sustainable and engaged approach to fashion.
City by the sea
Designer Samant Chauhan crafts an ode to Mumbai, the megalopolis that stands for resilience. The collection reflects a time we have lost and the time we are going to lose. The mood reflects bleak loneliness and also the brightness of hope.
Underwater landscapes
The opening show by designer Aneeth Arora took a journey through islands and the deep blue sea, in colours from the marine landscape — blue from the ocean, beige from the sands, ivory from shells, and coral and mustard from underwater life. The collection featured playful colour blocking, frills and ruffles, beaded fringes, handcrafted ceramic buttons, fabric flowers. The headgears were created by Carlo Urgese, a paper sculptor from Italy.
