With the lacy tops one has to be careful not to go overboard with the lace.” If one does not want to go through the trouble of changing for a party after works, she suggests, “a lacy camisole worn under a cardigan which can be removed during the party. Bling can be added in the form of glitter stilettos or jewellery.”

If one wants to take this really formal skirt and wear it for a party, designer Jatin Bandari suggests, “A pencil skirt made of leather can be teamed with an embellished or sequins crop top. They can be layered with a funky Bomber Jacket too.” For the really experimental person one can style a pencil skirt with either a crop top or a top tied at the waist and team it up with white sneakers.

Statement jewellery is created quite a storm in the fashion industry with many designers using them to with their outfits. Jatin adds, “Pencil skirts can be accessorised by statement jewellery pieces such as bracelets, a statement oversized necklace. A skinny belt can also be a great accessory, but don’t overdo the accessory game.”

While sporting this trend short people should opt for short skirt and the tall people should go for long skirts. “Do not mix prints that are very bold. For a-line body you could wear a line pencil skirt or else it would add to the hip volume. Wear a top that covers your shoulder as tube tops or one shoulder tops don’t go well along with the pencil skirt,” Sparsha adds.
