Melania Trump pays tribute to France with her outfits
New Delhi: She may be spending only 36 hours in Paris, but U.S. First Lady Melania Trump is making a lasting impression through her wardrobe. Since her arrival, the 47-year-old has been celebrating the French style and showing elegance in midi hemlines and long-sleeved jackets.
Trump touched down in Paris sporting a traditional red Christian Dior skirt-suit that paid homage to the French fashion house's groundbreaking 'New Look' style revolution in the late 1940's, which is now known as the 'Bar' suit.
After taking a tour of Les Invalides and a boat ride down the Seine, First Lady Melania Trump radiated atop the Eiffel Tower, where she and President Donald Trump dined with French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife Brigitte.
Herve Pierre, a French-American fashion designer, is the U.S. First Lady's go-to designer for custom-made clothes. The First Ladies enjoyed the dinner at Le Jules Verne in French labels with Melania wearing a bespoke Herve Pierre red, white and navy blue cocktail dress, paired with black stilettos and perfectly tousled hair and Macron sporting a mini-dress from Louis Vuitton featuring a floral pattern and a high neck collar.
Melania Trump's Dior-inspired dress nodded toward both the American and French flags on the eve of Bastille Day, France's national day of celebration. Later, opting for a white dress with a pattern of blue, red and pink flowers, the U.S First Lady took in the splendour of Bastille Day military parade on the Champs Elysees.
While her French counterpart sported a chic tailored navy dress with a matching jacket.
The Trumps will leave for the airport immediately after the parade has finished. They have plans to spend the weekend at their golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey.
