Pink seems to be the colour of the season! From the Golden Globe Awards to London and Paris fashion weeks, shades of pink seem to be the pick of the season! From pastel shades to ruffled, embellished and halter sparkling necklines, the eye catching colour is sure to up the glam quotient this spring/summer 2017. And the best part about this colour? It’s versatile – it can be transformed from edgy/goth to old-Hollywood glam or feminine with just a few tweaks!

The colour has an ability to look girly, sassy, fresh and edgy. And according to designer Babita Jaishankar, it’s the apt colour of the season. “Spring/summer call for this colour which has the ability to be so versatile. Most people associate pink with being too feminine or girly but that’s not the case if styled appropriately,” she explains. “Hot pink and magenta have the ability to turn the look into an edgy one and also complements the Indian skin tone very well. And the colour is not very demanding so it doesn’t really clash and can be paired with almost every other colour while still looking classy and glamorous,” she opines.

Tahera Peeran, a designer believes that the lively and playful colour is certainly here to stay. “I love pink with it’s many moods and hues. This season’s powder pinks, candy and blush in ginghams and plaids are a staunch favourite of mine,” opines the designer. “For those who are unsure about the head-to-toe pink look, an effortless and chic evening look can be styled by pairing a soft sheer pink blouse with black trousers or a high waisted quirky skirt. Soft blush pink with sharp leather trousers and boots also make for an excellent edgy look and sharply tailored suits combining the sweet rose pink with a bold fuschia, give off a whole new modern and sleek look,” says Tahera about styling options for the diverse colour.

Clearly, the colour is no longer confined to the idea of the ‘princess’ anymore. “This season we have a plethora of shades to play around with to suit different personalities. The shades range from antique rose to shocking pinks, powder pinks to candy floss ones,” says stylist Sonia Ajit Prasad, about this season’s colour. “Bombers look extremely cool in pink. They give off an edgy look and a very sports luxe kind of vibe. A powder pink or an antique rose coloured printed bomber on white denims, would look chic. Pink trousers with similar tone shirts or tees would make up for a debonair office look while the pink slip dress in a soft shade, would make for an excellent brunch look. Also shocking pink jumpsuits would make quite a statement for evening wear,” the stylist suggests on how the different shades can be donned for specific occasions.
