When someone looks at you, the first thing they notice is your face and head. And when you wear something nice on your head, you make a lasting first impression. Designer Reshma Kunhi shares, “Headgear is the most noticeable accessory one can ever wear as it draws attention to the face. It can make any outfit glamourous. Hats, headbands, turbans and printed scarves are trending this season. If you want to stay ahead in fashion you cannot give a miss to this fashion accessory this season.”
The Met Gala and Cannes 2019 really stepped up the headgear game this season. “People are really into headgears. Deepika Padukone’s turban headgear was a real game changer. A lot of delicate and dainty pins embellished with pearls and crystal are trending this season,” shares Designer Prachita Devi adding that sporty caps woven in jute and bamboo is going to be big this season. If you have a pretty scarf in your closet that you have worn in a long time, then bring it out! Stylist Zohara Jamal feels that with fashion there are no do’s or dont’s. She opines, “A bright and colourful scarf can be folded up and used as a head band. This will give your outfit a nice pop of colour. Another thing that you can try are clips embellished with pearls which will give you a feminine look.”
This season, you can experiment with a range of hats. “It’s all about neon cowboy hats, diamond studded veiled hats (instead of the regular netted veil), sequined caps, printed and solid material hats in different variants. One can easily spot this trend in a casual or party wear outfit,” suggests Reshma.
With big and over the top headgears, balance is a must. Prachita shares, “When you want to sport loud headgear, go simple with your outfit. While it will works perfectly for awards nights, on a day to day level, it will not. Ensure that you maintain balance while wearing headgears.”
Choose a headgear based on the occasion you are attending. Reshma adds, “Earlier people wore hats only during summer at the beach but now you can rock this look at a party, beaches, derby, resort, brunches or for a dinner provided you wear the right headgear.”
