Mane'ly enchanting

Rapunzel-inspired tresses are trending. With long and sleek hair extensions making a comeback, a hair stylist tells us more.

Haven’t we all, at some point in time, longed for Rapunzel-inspired tresses? While most women chose to pursue other trends over the little girl’s dream, the desire is making a comeback – a massive demand for extensions among young and the middle-aged are proof.

Side braids, twists and messy updos through extensions have inspired celebrities all over the world to give extensions a go. And the craze is equally major among men do too!

From Kim Kardashian, Beyonce, Jennifer Lopez, Solange Knowles and Ciara to Kareena Kapoor Khan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, ultra-long extentions are a personal favourite among most celebrities. The trend is catching up, but yet again, is not an easy one to sport – unless, you’re willing to invest adequate time.

While there is no rulebook which states who can and who can’t, extensions are mostly recommended for the women who have shoulder-length hair.

Classy, versatile and chic, you don’t need a detailed appointment with an expert to figure out if the style works for you. Extensions suit all face types. Experts are mostly bombarded with requests by young adults, who carry pictures of celebs with a certain look. Enough thought needs to be put in about the colours. While, it’s not impossible to achieve it, one must realise that extensions compliment some women more because of the highlights.

Getting a good pair of extensions are expensive and one needs an excellent hair technician in order to fix them in right.

To maintain them, use a shampoo every alternate day to keep the scalp clean because oil is what loosens up the grip of the attachment. The worse thing that you can do is treat it like normal hair. Handle it more gently and don't tie your hair too tight because once it gets a slight dent, it is difficult to remove. When outdoors, cover your hair with a scarf. The rule also applies when you are sleeping. Use a good conditioner and serum to keep your locks silky and knot free. Replace your exiting one, and let a stylist recommend the products for you.
