Here's how you look your fashionable best this monsoon
Let’s face it; monsoon is perhaps one of the most difficult times to adorn yourself in your fashionable best.
Pouring rains, incessant potholes, varying degrees of temperature that moves from downright humid to soaking wet in matter of seconds, one cannot help but be a bit extra cautious in dressing up or putting forward their fashionable A-game during the months of rain.
However, designers and jewellers say there are ways to make yourself look fashionable even during the deluge.
Tushi and Vaibhav, who own the brand Adorn His and specialize in men’s wear are all for the fashionable man during monsoon.
Speaking about what they feel monsoon fashion should be like, the duo says, “If there's one thing that we know about monsoon, it's that it's gloomy and often threatens to take the fun out of our fashion games. We are talking rich hues, fresh prints, light fabrics and just the right amount of layering to give monsoon a fashionable spin.”
They further go on to add, “Monsoons is all about sultry weather, therefore one should avoid wearing tight or straight fitted clothes that stick to you. Skinny pants or jeans is quite uncomfortable when it rains. One can opt for straight pyjamas or dhoti pants during monsoons. Fabric plays an important role. Cotton and linen serves best during monsoons.”
As for colors, Tushi and Vaibhav opine that colors like pink, yellow, green and orange rule the season.
Speaking about having to go for celebrations during monsoon, the duo say that Kurtas have always been thet all-time favourites for any season. “Fabrics like cotton and linen gives comfort and luxe feel to a person. Ombre' suits every personality, depending on the color combination one chooses from. A shade of yellow blended with white, also makes a good day wear to any occasion like wedding or sangeet or a green and aqua blue color for a day outing with friends and family.”
As for what to wear on a regular basis, Adorn His says, “Emphasis should be on light hues, with focus on style quotient and versatility. Pair it up sneakers, chappals or crocs. Short Kurtas teamed with low crotch pants, plain shirt style kurtas with accent detailing and open style sleeveless bandgala jackets over a trouser and crisp tee shirt is all you need to make a statement this monsoon.”
When it comes to jewelry, it is equally difficult to wear the right things during monsoon.
Sanchit Jain and Mohit Malhotra from Kohar Jewels say that chunky jewelry, is meant to make a bold impact as it adds a pop of color, texture and shine to one’s look. Statement ear rings goes very well with a dress with high neckline. One can also wear chunky ear rings if the dress has embroidery or any interesting pattern. They further add, “Classic collection are pearl or diamond jewelry. These accessories go well with understated dresses and tops, black and leather accessories as well as candy colored jewelry pieces like resin bracelets or colourful watches go well with plain tops and dresses. They add a pop of color and playfulness to the outfit.”
Ageerika Hari from the brand Vaitaanika further adds, “There are limitless options when it comes to choosing a right piece of jewelry to complete one’s look. Bright colored earrings, stacked bracelets of different materials, and vintage jewelry are all great statement accessories. A sleep pendant necklace can make as much of a statement as a bejeweled chocker. Enamel pins are also a form of jewelry, and are incredibly popular right now.
Ageerika also adds that delicate jewellery provides a subtle shine to any outfit. Delicate rings, necklaces and earrings can make the look pristine. She further adds, “To make your look pop, layer several pieces together to pull your look together.”
“Bold and unique accessories or jewellery should be worn with understated clothing, and only one piece per outfit. The key rule that less is more in most cases in true. Balance the size of your accessory pieces.”
According to Ageerika, “Accessories can make outfit from drab to fab. To look your best, put extra effort into selecting your fashion accessories as you do the main component."
