Shades of spring
Blue streak
Designer duo Ankur and Priyanka Modi: “Reminiscent of the hues that root us to our cultural heritage, the colour palette of SS’17 evokes a spectrum of emotion and feeling. If the classic navy blue is not your cup of tea throughout sunny spring days, yet you are aching for some strong and confident blue… try lapis blue.”
Pretty Pink
Designer Saaksha Parekh: “It’s bold and rich, and has all the traits to produce an adrenaline rush. Since 2017 is all about colour confidence, pink is going to be a statement-maker. You can kick-start a pink revolution and choose from amaranth and brink pink to raspberry and ultra-pink. Flowing dresses in this shade mixed with other pink shades or some lovely jacquard pieces will work perfectly.”
Earthy touch
Designer Anjali Jani: “A quintessential neutral with a warm undertone, the earthy tone speaks to the idea of transitional colour that actually can be worn all year. It’s easy to mix-n-match and a great alternative to your standard white and black.”
Flaming crimson
Designer Archana Kochhar: “Red is not for any wallflower gal. Red and its variants target the passionate femme fatales within all of us. While orchid or pink is one of my favourites for SS'17, crimson red is lively and failsafe. A lava red flaring maxi dress, or a feminine tulle dress in hot crimson make for a few best options.”
White night designer
Aditi Somani: “The spring colour chart is incomplete without white. They may be called clichéd but they are evergreen. To keep whites from looking too washed out, accentuate them with brightly coloured embroideries and motifs. You can embrace white gowns in featherweight tulle or delicate lace options or try out gypsy-inspired skirts with crop tops for a bohemian vibe.”
Hello, Sunshine
Designer Shruti Sancheti: “If spicy mustard ruled last year’s colour chart, it is primrose yellow or canary yellow that’s going to shape up one of the SS’17 colour trends. Try a monochromatic piece with flower-like prints or opt for a calf-length dress. This shade is also perfect for eveningwear, go for laid-back blouses, car-wash-pleated skirts and several colour blocking options.”
Green signal
Designer Aashima Behl: “Greenery, a tangy yellow-green, which according to Pantone Spring 2017 Fashion Color Report speaks to our need to explore, experiment and reinvent, will be seen throughout the year. Being the colour of foliage, this shade assuredly spreads healthy lifestyle around. Try some crazy options in this shade — green peplum jacket, an anarkali or a mini-skirt.”
