On day three of the FDCI India Couture Week 2019, Mosaic, which is Pankaj & Nidhi’s this year’s collection for the event, attracted   quite a few eyeballs. The collection is inspired from the artform of the same name that originated during prehistoric era but flourished particularly in the 6th to 15th century Byzantine Empire, when it was used on walls and ceilings of the basilicas and churches. The collection paid tribute to the period of magnificent ornamentation with artisanal dexterity on textiles and, thus, recreating the same magic. The outfits reflected the three-dimensional, hand-cut appliqués and precision inlay work. Precise and geometric embellished motifs turned a medieval inspiration into a graphic vision for the future.
