Maggi Masala Dal Khichdi
Ingredients
- 1 cup rice
- ½ cup moong dal
- 1 finely chopped onion and tomato
- 2 green chillies or red chilli powder
- 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
- 2 tsp Maggi masala powder
- Salt to taste
- 2 cups water
- Coriander sprigs
Method
- Wash rice and moong dal and soak together in water for 20 minutes. Drain and keep aside until needed.
- Add 2 tbsp oil in a pressure cooker.
- Add ginger-garlic paste and green chillies, sauté. Add chopped onion and tomatoes and sauté until onions turn light brown, or for 1-2 minutes.
- Add drained rice and moong dal, red chilli powder, salt and Maggi masala powder. Sauté for about a minute.
- Add two cups water, mix well and close lid. Pressure cook for three whistles on medium-high flame.
- Turn off flame and let the pressure release naturally. Open lid carefully, after about 6-8 minutes.
- Garnish with fresh coriander sprigs, and serve with plain yogurt or pickle.
