Kirik Party debutante Samyukta Hegde shares her favourite Thai dish.
‘Khao’ some Khow-suey!
Ingredients
- For the noodles
- Noodles (any kind) 200 gm
- Garlic (cloves) 1-2
- Water and salt as required.
For the Gravy
- Chicken (boneless) 500 gm
- Onion (finely chopped) 4
- Ginger paste 1 tsp
- Garlic paste ½ tsp
- Gram flour ¾ tbsp
- Turmeric powder 1 tsp
- Chilli powder 1 tsp
- Coconut milk 1/2 cup
- Water 1/2 cup
- Oil 2 tsp
- Salt to taste
For Garnish
- Boiled eggs 3-4 (chopped)
- Garlic (sliced and fried) ¼ cup
- Onions (fried) 1/4 cup
- Coriander (chopped) 2 tbsp
- Fried noodles ¼ cup
- Peanuts (crushed) ¼ cup
- Green chillies (finely chopped) 1 tbsp
- Soy sauce
- Lemon (2-3)
Method
- Boil the water for noodles, along with salt and garlic. Add, noodles and let it boil until well-cooked. Drain and rinse in cold water and keep aside.
- Heat oil in a pan. Sauté onions till soft. Add ginger, garlic paste, fry until raw smell goes away.
- Add turmeric and chilli powder along with chicken and sauté until chicken is cooked.
- Add gram flour and mix well. Pour coconut milk along with water and sprinkle salt. Let it boil until it thickens.
- Serve by covering the noodles in the gravy and garnish according to your liking. Serve hot.
