The mantra to stay cool!
The scorching summer heat can get dangerous – deadly even. During summer, we need to take special care to prevent conditions like dehydration or sun stroke.
Drinking plenty of water before, while, and after you step out in the hot sun, helps in maintaining the right balance of the various salts in your body. Another
simple trick is to add lemon and salt to the water, which helps to restore potassium and sodium naturally.
Apart from sodium and potassium, calcium also plays an important role in retaining the required water and salts in the body.
One can either opt for calcium rich drinks or can have home-made buttermilk.
Buttermilk mixed with lemon, salt and fresh coriander has high biological value calcium, which can be absorbed quickly and strengthens muscles which become weak due to the harsh sun.
To up the nutrient value one can also add some chia seeds to the buttermilk.
Maintaining bloodsugar is also very crucial during peak summers. Many carry glucose water for instant energy. However, mixing glucose with fresh juice (of any fruit), will help retain the sugar and other nutrients for a longer time.
