Not many people are aware of what happen to a woman’s body when she stops having sex. However, it seems that there are physical changes that take place when women stop getting intimate with their partners.

Speaking to Mail Online, Dr Ginni Mansberg explained the potential physical changes that women may undergo when they stop copulating in its entirety.

From vaginal shrinking to losing sex drive, here’s what she said.

According to Dr Mansberg, when women stop having sex it is possible for their vagina to shrink and it can get worse at lubricating itself.

This, Dr Mansberg says is because the oestrogen helps with vaginal lubrication. The doctor explains that the cells that make the lubricant are turbo charged by oestrogen and they line the vagina, it's called mucus membrane, which is a mucus lining.

Losing your sex drive: Dr Mansberg further elaborates that another potential side effect to stopping having sex is that a person may also want to stop having sex. She explained that women who have been in long term relationships don't have high libidos as their partner has become a "comfortable shoe".

Thinning of the vaginal walls: Like any muscle - the vaginal wall needs exercise - but it doesn't get weak, it just gets thinner. Dr Ginni explains that while it is not really a big issue, one might not have as an intense orgasm the first time, but it can come back. She suggests one can build her vaginal wall with pelvic floor exercises.

Stress: Dr Ginni revealed that a number of studies have shown sex relieves stress. She reasoned that women who are having regular sex are more likely to be in a healthy relationship.
