Teenager has condition causing skin to blister constantly

Skin conditions may alter a person’s appearance to an extent that the patient may also become a victim of discrimination due to social stigmas arising out of lack of awareness and sensitivity among people. In addition to this some conditions may also cause unimaginable pain and daily struggles for an individual.

A 16-year-old from Thailand is also going through a shocking ordeal where she has fragile skin described as ‘butterfly skin’ which causes blisters constantly and also leading to her fingers and toes fusing together. The skin is blistered and torn by the slightest touch and this causes open sores that expose the girl to insects.

Helped by a former Thai monk named Bhin, Khewjira Phanij’s parents are determined to ensure that their daughter is cured and lives a normal life. They are prepared to even stay hungry is that’s what it takes to manage the expenses for her diagnosis.

The condition called Epidermolysis Bullosa is a disease that affects one in 50000 children and while treatment tries to prevent infection of blisters, there isn’t any cure for it.
