People using Tinder have lower self-esteem issues, new study finds

The study was conducted by a team at the University of Rhode Island.

Those using Tinder have been found to have more issues with self-esteem and body image, according to new research.

The study conducted by a team at the University of Rhode Island examined 820 Tinder users. The participants were college students, which included 700 females and 120 males.

The team found that both males and females experienced negative moods compared with those who have not used the dating app. They also felt under pressure to look a certain way.

While this is the new age way of finding a partner, lead author of the study Jessica Strubel told Live Science "there are some psychological ramifications” to using these kind of apps. She urges users not to go on there looking for validation.

Strubel also believes that Tinder is not the cause for lower self-esteem, but does believe people having existing issues over their self-image are drawn to such apps.
