Every person can have certain peculiar habits and while some may seem strange there are those few that come across as shocking. What may seem like a weird urge to do something unusual can turn out to be extremely unhealthy as it develops into an obsession.

Doctors had to conduct a surgery to remove a massive hairball from a 37-year-old woman’s stomach after she complained of vomiting every time she ate and a loss of appetite. The woman is known to be suffering from the Rapunzel syndrome which makes people eat their own hair.

The hairball was stuck in her stomach and was removed along with a plastic hair clip she had ingested. A similar surgery to remove a hairball was conducted on the woman a decade back but she ignored advice by the doctors due to her addiction to eating hair.

The doctors said that the case was unique since the plastic clip may have caused the formation of a clump of hair called trichobezoar in the stomach. The woman said she had stopped eating hair earlier but admitted she had started again later on.
