Having a fit body with bulging biceps and sculpted abs is something a lot of people dream of and many also work hard for. But sometimes trying to use an alternative to a workout can actually turn out to be disastrous.

21-year-old Russian body builder Kirill Tereshin realised this the hard way as he is facing amputation after trying to use a shortcut for bulking up his muscles. While he developed Popeye-style biceps after injecting his arms with a homemade chemical concoction, he is now struggling with terrible consequences.

Doctors said that Kirill risks paralysis and his arm may need to be cut off as the former soldier posted an image of his ‘bazooka arms’ on Instagram. But he seems defiant as he intends to continue his use of muscle enhancer.

The chemical which has caused red and purple discolouring on Kirill’s arm is made of 85 percent oil along with lidocaine and benzyl alcohol. A medic warns that this can lead to development of abscesses followed by inflammation putting him at risk of a stroke.
