Research suggests that while people are careful about carbs, consuming excess fat is only responsible for weight gain. Unequivocal data showed how most calories are consumed by fatty foods as they activate reward centres in the brain.
Combining sugar with fat didn’t have more impact than fat alone. Over the past few decades focus shifted from fat to carbs while examining weight gain and recently it has been thought that when protein intake falls people eat more and hence gain weight.
