Married heart patients are 52 percent more likely to survive
People across the world are much more conscious about their personal health due to growing awareness. While a number of factors affect physical and mental health in different ways, making a life long commitment affects the heart in more ways than people thought.
A new study has revealed that people who are married and have heart issues are 52 percent more likely to survive the condition. Married people also have a 24 percent lower chance of premature death caused by any ailment.
Researchers are surprised to learn about the effect marital status can have on heart health. A doctor said that social support among other benefits of companionship coming from marriage may be responsible for boosting the chances of survival.
Meanwhile previous studies have found that married heart patients benefit from a partner who constantly pushes them to live a healthier life. Also divorced people were found to be less healthy and at a higher risk of heart diseases, something that may be caused by stress related to separation.
