Rare condition allows Nepalese girl to smell colours
A girl from Nepal is able to identify colour through smell.
While 11-year-old Deepti Regmi, from Nepal, has not officially been diagnosed, it is possible to could have a sensory disorder called synaesthesia. The condition causes people’s senses to highten and makes them smell, taste or even hear colours, according to a report by the Daily Mail.
Footage online shows the girl correctly identifying different colours by sniffing it while blindfolded. She was even able to decipher colours on a newspaper page.
Regimi this ability she has is God given and wants to "help visually impaired people with her skills", the report revealed.
Recently there have been reports of people who live with the condition. One of them is James Wannerton from Manchester, England, who can smell sounds. The condition has affected his relationships because if he gets a bad taste in his mouth from a name, he cannot be around them.
