Mouth fillers at 'Botox party' cause woman's lips to swell twice their normal size

People try different methods to enhance or change their physical as well as facial appearance. Apart from surgery, procedures like injecting fillers in modify features have become popular over the past few years.

But 29-year-old Rachael Knappier almost lost her top lip after it swelled to twice their normal size due to mouth fillers. She decided to get her lips plumped at a ‘Botox party’ where she was originally seeking a wrinkle-easing injection.

The filler was accidentally injected into an artery causing the mouth to swell within hours which cut off the blood supply to her lips. She contacted a cosmetic-surgery expert who told her that she may lose her lip if the tissue started dying.

Three days later her lips were injected with dissolving agent and after three months her mouth is back to the normal size.
