Snake enthusiast films rare footage of snakes indulging in 'combat dance'

Snakes may be terrifying but there are certain aspects about these creatures which can be fascinating. While all animals are known to have peculiar mating rituals and behavioural patterns, snakes seem to have a combat dance.

When a female is near by, male vipers indulge in writhing and stretching to compete with each other. This strange yet common practice has been caught on camera in a rare footage from West Virginia.

Jamie Fenske was lucky to spot timber rattlesnakes indulging in a combat dance during breeding season. This is meant to assert dominance and create an impression over the female as part of courtship.
