Rolls Royce Phantom worth $750k gets swallowed into road in China
A $752,700 Rolls-Royce Phantom fell into a sinkhole in the middle of the street in Harbin, capital city of northeast China’s Heilongjiang province on October 1, 2017.
The sinkhole was caused by surface subsidence, and affected only the Phantom.
The horrified owner was forced to climb out of the window of his luxury motor as it was dragged into the ground.
Although the car was totalled, the driver managed to make a miraculous escape.
The bizarre accident happened as the driver was waiting at a red light, and when it turned green and he set off, the road caved in, swallowing his car.
The Rolls-Royce fell front first into the six-foot deep and six-foot wide sinkhole.
Local authorities later helped sealed off the section of road and hoist the Rolls-Royce out, while other vehicles avoided the fragile road surface.
Whether the Phantom was insured is unknown, or if the owner will demand damages from the Harbin government.
