Inspiring tale of girl battling dowry, prostitution
Mysuru: Women in Indian society have to face a lot of issues from day to day life and then there are those for whom life can turn into a nightmare as domestic violence, dowry harassment and human trafficking are rampant in the society even today.
While a lot of women are forced to silently suffer such an ordeal, some refuse to endure the darkness and fight back despite lack of support in the society and constant repression. One such woman is Ayesha from Mysore, who fought her way out of a bad marriage and being forced into prostitution, as she is now refusing to stop at anything.
Married off at the age of 18, Ayesha’s ordeal begin when her in-laws started torturing her for dowry and aborted her child when she got pregnant. But things turned worse when her husband took her to a place saying her it was for a job, and sold her to a brothel instead.
She tried to escape several times and was angry at her parents who didn’t back her out of her suffering. Finally she managed to tell a customer about her situation, as the person informed member of Justice and Care, who locked down the brothel and saved Ayesha.
Although Ayesha was triumphant in a battle against evils imposed on many women in India, she is now hitting out and shattering every gender stereotype and is working hard to become an IPS officer and help more women suffering a fate similar to hers.
