Atypical Valentine's Day

Those looking for some variety this February 14, can choose from an array of unique V-Day celebrations across the city.

The usual script for Valentine’s Day sees a couple, dressed to the nines, going out for romantic candlelight dinners, walks by the beach, long drives, and so on. However, February 14 is not just a day for couples anymore — people of all marital statuses and ages now celebrate all kinds of love, be it their love for the families or their friends. Read on to see some unique ways to celebrate:

A singles night

While Valentine’s Day is usually geared towards couples, singles too can have some fun at The Irish House, which is celebrating singlehood with activities like Ex-Boxing and the Freedom Wall. “We have curated fun activities for the singles to not feel left out. In Ex-Boxing, you picture your ex’s face and punch the bag as a stress buster. Whereas, Freedom Wall is where you can win a couple of free beers for giving interesting answers about why you like being single,” says Sanju Arora, General Manager, The Irish House.

V-Day with Grandparents

Celebrate love for your grandparents this Valentine’s Day at Viviana Mall by doing various activities together and participating in contests. Dancing with them to music from a live band and walking the ramp with them are a few of the things that will be part of the celebration. “There will be over 50 grandparents and an equal number of grandkids coming to the mall on Friday to celebrate. The healthy turnout shows that Indian culture remains intact and grandchildren do care for the elder generation,” says Rima Kirtikar, Chief Marketing Officer, Viviana Mall. The celebration is part of Good Ol’ Fridays, which encourages youth to spend quality time with their grandparents and create memories to last a lifetime.

Family fun time

You can also show love to your family and kids at KidZania, where Mad Over Donuts has organised a donut-making workshop for children. “We have organised activities like customizing and preparing a doughnut for your loved ones at the Mad Over Donuts facility. Then, at the Nick Dubbing Studio, parents can bond with their kids while role-playing as voiceover artists, followed by a trip to the Big Bazaar Supermarket, where kids will be store employees and parents can role-play as customers, thereby making Valentine's a family affair,” says Tarandeep Singh Sekhon, Marketing Director, KidZania India.

Glamping for Valentine’s

For lovebirds looking for a unique celebration, there is the option of glamping just 90 minutes away from the city. As part of their Valentine's Day special, Moonstone Hammock is giving couples activities like watching the sunset, tea by the river, and even serene kayak rides. “It offers the couples a different experience by offering them stay in the tent on the river raft, or they can choose for a much bigger bell tent, which is called the Glamping tent. We also have a live band performance in the night, followed by a movie night under the stars. It is much better than an ordinary valentine plan in the city. That too just 90 mins drive from Mumbai and Pune,” says Pratik Jain, Co-founder, Moonstone Hammock.
