No matter what you are wearing, twirling is the way to go.

With the constant need to be active on one’s Instagram account, a new hashtag is making rounds on the social media platform — twirl. And no matter what you are wearing, twirling is the way to go.

For Annie Munjal of Starstruck Weeding, the trend of twirling has a meditative aspect. “Twirling provides me with a kind of a meditative stage, especially when I’m stressed and overworked. It gives me the much-needed break,” shares Munjal who has been following the trend of twirling on not just her Instagram account but also on her other social media accounts. “And no matter what you are wearing — be it a pure Western attire like a skirt or a dress, or a traditional outfit like a lehenga, sari or suit, you are all set to twirl.”

Sonam, who has recently completed her Masters in History, is often found active on her Instagram handle and is really excited about the twirling trend. “I think people were reaching a saturation point with the constant uploading of selfies with various filters. We needed something fresh. And twirling has become a fun alternative. You don’t have to put much effort in it, just put on a good smile and twirl.”

But not everyone is appreciating the new trend. “Nowadays anything vague becomes a trend,” says undergraduate student Chandni who is being bombarded with twirling photos and videos by her friends. “I feel all these trends are time-consuming because everytime our group decides to go out, someone or the other is ready to twirl with her skirt or kurta on. And some of us either wait for the posing to end or end up becoming photographers for them,” she signs off.
