Man in UP bites off snake's head as revenge for snakebite

When he regained consciousness, he was asked to explain what happened.

New Delhi: In a bizarre case a UP man bit and chewed a snake head off in ‘revenge’ of the snake biting him.

The news reported by ANI saw Hardoi’s Dr Sanjay Kumar telling them that he has never seen such a case in his life.

The doctor said he was amazed the man survived even after biting the snake.

The farmer, identified as Sonelal, reportedly chewed off and spit out the snake's hood after it bit him.

He was rushed to a nearby clinic after he was found unconscious in Uttar Pradesh's Hardoi. The Times of India reported that the doctors treating him failed to find any bite marks on the farmer's body.

According to the Times of India, state-run ambulance service at Madhoganj community health centre received a call on Saturday that they had to rush to the nearby Shuklapur Bhagar village where a farmer had fallen unconscious.

When he regained consciousness, he was asked to explain what happened.

It was then that the man told them that the snake had bit him so he held its head and chewed it off following which the serpent died.

"Then I brought it back to the village. I tore off its head again,” he told ANI.

Eyewitnesses also say they saw him ingest part of the snake, identified by some villagers as a python.

However, doctors at the health centre told TOI that they failed to find any bite marks on the farmer's body.
