Watch video: Bison tosses 9-year-old girl into the air at Yellowstone National Park

In a horrific incident that happened in Yellowstone National Park, a bison charged at a 9-year-old girl and threw her in the air, reported park officials.

This incident was recorded on Monday near Observation Point Trail in the Old Faithful Geyser area. The incident was captured on video and posted to Twitter. It then went viral. Luckily, the little girl suffered no injuries, and was treated at the Old Faithful Clinic before being released.

People who witnessed the incident said that a group of about 50 people were within five to 10 feet of the bison. They were there for about 20 minutes, which caused the bison to charge at the group.

In the video, you can see the bison charge towards three people who strayed away from the trail. Two adults, a man and a woman can be seen fleeing from the bison while the little girl behind them is violently thrown into the air, reported The Geek.

After the incident, park officials advised people to give space to all animals near the trails, parking lot or other developed spaces and to not approach them under any circumstance. Large animals like bison, elk, bighorn sheep, deer, moose and coyotes need to be given at least 25 yards of space. Bears and wolves should be given a minimum of 100 yards of space.

“The animals in Yellowstone are wild and unpredictable, no matter how calm they appear to be. The safest (and often best) view of wildlife is from inside a car,” park officials said as part of Yellowstone’s safety guidelines. “Always stay at least 100 yards away from bears and wolves, and at least 25 yards away from all other animals, including bison and elk.”
