Fancy bath ideas
Bathrooms are usually considered to be extensions of bedrooms, and the only corner in the house where you can wash away your troubles with bubbles. Although, it is one of the most important parts of the house while designing and allocating the space for a bathroom one must keep in mind a few essential factors to convert it into a chic corner. With smart use of colours, lighting, and arrangement of bath items, one can easily turn the bathroom area into an inspirational corner for relaxation.
Bathrooms are supposed to be dry and comfortable with enough storage; but keeping in mind space, one can put segregate the dry and wet zone and customise a big or small space for a bath area. To design a functionally comfortable bath area, it’s important to ensure that your bathroom is laid out in a way in which the wet and dry areas are separated with a glass partition or a shower curtain. It’s also important to ensure that the space allocated for the Basin, W/C, and shower is comfortable in width.
Bathrooms are now as important to clients as their living rooms and bedrooms, mentions Minnie Bhatt, design director at Minnie Bhatt Design. “I would suggest choosing neutral coloured tiles from a wide variety available to ensure that space is timeless. There are technically progressive faucets now available that have aerators in basin mixers, and four/five way shower systems that are in trend. Shower diverters are now available with a thermostat mechanism that maintains the water temperature. Choose appropriate surfaces, have a good ventilation system and leave space for storage,” adds Minnie Bhatt.
When considering floor and wall tiles, you need to choose a colour, finish, and size that fits with your design. The colour in bathrooms needs to be subtle, and the latest concept suggests having a lot of indirect lights to lighten up the look and feel of the enclosed space. All these features add to the mood of the bathroom and make them trendy. Speaking about the latest themes in the bathroom segment, interior expert Maurizio Meloda of Graff India, highlights some timeless colour combinations and ideas that uplift the bath décor. “Gold and rose gold have made a major comeback in the bathroom and interior design trends. Black is one of the most requested colours this year, both for faucets and bathroom accessories. Along with that, one can also go for themes like industrial luxe or use raw materials to recreate nature and unprocessed elements in the bath area.”
Ideally, bathroom under counters must have a proper division of storage with space for laundry basket- towels- hand towels-toiletries, informs architect Asumi Rawat. She doles out some important tips for functional designing and says, “One can install a fan in the bathroom along with a marble-top basin counter with the under-counter in lamination - usually in coloured lamination. The lamination doesn’t get spoilt with water. In case the bathrooms are to be designed for the elderly, then the flooring should be done with anti-slippery tiles. Don’t use matte veneer polish in bathroom caddy as it tends to spoil soon. Mirrors are an important part in bathrooms and they must be well designed. The basin size should be selected in advance before designing counter. Basin caddy should be at least 6 to 8 inch above the floor.”
