Sushma Swaraj to take 4-day vietnam, Cambodia trip
New Delhi: External affairs minister, Sushma Swaraj will make an official visit to south-east Asian countries — Vietnam and Cambodia from August 27 to 30, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) announced on Saturday.
Vietnam is a close strategic partner of India. The MEA said that Ms Swaraj’s visit to Vietnam and Cambodia would “provide an opportunity to hold in-depth discussions with the political leadership on a wide range of global, regional and bilateral issues and advance our strategic engagement with these countries and ASEAN region”.
On Saturday, the MEA said, “In Vietnam (27-28 August), she will co-chair the 16th meeting of the Joint Commission along with her counterpart, deputy Prime Minister and foreign minister, H.E. Mr Pham Binh Minh. She will also call on Prime Minister H.E. Mr. Nguyen Xuan Phuc.
The MEA added, “In Cambodia (29-30 Augu-st), she will have a bilateral meeting with H.E. Mr. Prak Sokhonn, senior minister, minister of foreign affairs and international cooperation of the Kingdom of Cambodia and call on Prime Minister H.E. Mr Hun Sen and President of senate H.E.”
“ Mr Say Chhum. This will be EAM’s first official visit to Cambodia.”
On August 27, EAM will inaugurate the 3rd edition of the Indian Ocean Conference.”
