India is a country known for its cultural diversity and is home to people who hold different beliefs as they follow varying traditions. People in every part of India have their own unique set of rituals which are mostly fascinating but some may turn out to be mind boggling.

A woman on the outskirts of Bengaluru was performing a ritual to appease a goddess which involved walking on burning embers. But things went terribly wrong when she tripped on her own saree and fell on the burning coals.

She lay there motionless for moments until bystanders rushed to save her following which she was moved to a hospital. She was treated for minor injuries as residents of the village recalled a similar accident two years back.

Bagalgunte village holds an annual fair in honour of the local goddess and walking on fire is a highlight although locals say walking with a saree isn’t a good idea.
