Britain's oldest parents lose custody of their baby

The couple spent close to £100,000 on a surrogate mother.

Social services in the UK have taken away a baby from the country's oldest parents, The Sun reported.

The couple ages 63 and 65 are utterly devastated after loosing their one-year-old who they had via a surrogate.

Social services had warned the couple, from north England, improvements had to be made for the sake of the child’s well-being.

When they failed to take the necessary measures, social services decided they were no longer in a position to care for the baby.

The couple spent close to £100,000 on a 30 something surrogate mother. A donor egg and the 65-year-old father’s sperm were believed to be used. They completed the procedure overseas, as no one in the UK reportedly wanted to deal with a couple of their age.

While the child's mother and her husband are listed on the birth certificate, they signed over parental order to the older couple, who adopted the child.

The child is currently in foster care and the parents are currently fighting to regain custody.
