Advertisements making tall claims about the efficiency of products may not be completely true, but sometimes truth can be stranger than fiction. While durability in any condition is appreciated in electronic goods, expecting a gadget to survive under the ocean may be stretching it a bit too much.

In a bizarre incident from Taiwan, a camera that washed ashore on a beach covered with barnacles and shells was found to be in perfect working condition. The camera which was inside a waterproof case was found by schoolchildren and their teacher Park Lee helped them trace the owner.

It turned out that the camera belonged to a person from Japan and was lost at sea in 2015 when she went scuba diving. It’s astonishing how not a single drop of water entered the camera even as it travelled hundreds of kilometres in the ocean for almost three years.
