Cheating partners are three times more likely to stray again, research suggests

People who had been cheated on relationship were also twice as likely to report same behaviour from their next relationship partners.

A new study now shows that an unfaithful lover whose relationship has broken down is three times more likely to cheat on their next girl or boyfriend.

The study conducted by the University of Denver, saw researchers asking 329 women and 155 men about their love lives in 11 questionnaires completed over a five-year period.

The unmarried people were asked if they had sexual relations with someone other than their partner since they began seriously dating and the study found that those who had sexual relations with someone other than their partner in the first relationship were three times more likely to have sex with someone other than their partner in their next relationship.

People who had been cheated on in one relationship were also twice as likely to report the same behaviour from their next relationship partners.

According to Harry Benson, of the British-based Marriage Foundation it is a cautionary finding for all those who have affairs with people who are still married, hoping that they can replace the other spouse when the marriage finally fails.
