Science says quality of sex actually improves with age
Popular perception is that sex is a domain mainly for young people in the society and that quality of sex in life declines as a person grows older, but some studies are raising questions over the validity of this notion in this day and age.
Even as popular culture and common notions exclude older adults whenever sex is being portrayed, a lot of people over 60 in the US were found to be sexually active at least three times a month and it was also observed that they continued to explore their sexuality as they grew older.
The argument cited for this is that while it’s assumed that the reason for more young being satisfied with their sex life as compared to older people is age, no one takes into account that people born in the 30s and 40s may have different attitudes towards sex than those born around the sexual revolution of the 60s and 70s.
Also many factors seem to have been overlooked while observing quality of sex, as while frequency of sex signified a good sex life for young people, emphasis shifted to the thought and effort invested in sex as people grew older.
The findings suggest that sexual priorities and preferences change with increasing knowledge and skills with age, hence quality of sex in life only gets better with age. It was also seen that being sexually active means a longer and healthier life for older adults.
