CBI may seek info from Satyendra Jain as well

Senior Delhi BJP leader Vijender Gupta has alleged that Dr Aggarwal is a relative of CM Arvind Kejriwal and has demanded an investigation.

New Delhi: With the CBI preparing to seek clarifications from Delhi health minister Satyendra Jain in connection with the alleged irregularities in the appointment of Dr Nikunj Aggarwal as his OSD (officer on special duty), a fresh round of confrontation between the Centre and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in the national capital is set to begin. Sources said that the agency may seek clarification from the health minister next week. Besides, the CBI is also preparing to question AAP MLA and former chief of the Delhi Waqf Board, Amanatullah Khan, in connection with the agency’s ongoing probe into the alleged irregularities in the operations of the board. The agency on Thursday registered a case against Dr Aggarwal to probe the alleged irregularities committed in his appointment. A day after registering the case, the agency sleuths searched Dr Aggarwal’s office on Friday. Dr Aggarwal is a senior resident at the Delhi government-run hospital, Chacha Nehru Bal Chikitsalaya. He was appointed last year, allegedly when there was no vacancy or any ad or interview for the post. On the basis of a hand-written application, he was allegedly given a letter of appointment and then taken in the health minister’s team.

Senior Delhi BJP leader Vijender Gupta has alleged that Dr Aggarwal is a relative of CM Arvind Kejriwal and has demanded an investigation. Najeeb Jung, who recently quit as Delhi’s L-G, had referred the case to the CBI last month. Meanwhile, the CBI is also planning to question AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan for alleged irregularities in the operations of the Delhi Waqf Board.
