NDMC holds session with public
New Delhi: In an attempt to bring public representatives and officials of the municipal corporation closer to citizens, the North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) on Saturday organised a special programme, “MCD Aapke Dwar (municipal corporation at your doorstep)”, in West Patel Nagar. The programme is an initiative of Delhi BJP president Manoj Tiwari.
At the first such meeting organised by the NDMC, Mr Tiwari and mayor Preety Agarwal listened to the grievances of citizens in presence of deputy commissioner of Karol Bagh Zone, Nitin Pramod, and other senior officials.
The Delhi BJP chief said that the initiative, where elected members, senior officials and RWA office-bearers sit together, is an important step towards giving a transparent and corruption free administration.
”Earlier this month, the first session of ‘MCD Aapke Dwar’ was held in the South Extension area by the South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) where the citizens made full use of the opportunity to get their problems resolved. Today , the residents of Patel Nagar, under the NDMC, appreciated the scheme. I have no doubt that in the coming days this scheme will ensure totally corruption free civic services,” Mr Tiwari added.
Mr Tiwari advised the civic bodies to hold such interactive sessions in all wards of Delhi at least once a month as this will give them an opportunity to solve the people grievances at the earliest. Mr Tiwari appealed to citizens to pay their pending property tax. He also inaugurated LED streetlight in the area.
”Objective of organising this event is to bring the public representatives and officials of the corporation closer to citizens. This will also help in setting priorities of the corporation and bringing transparency in its functioning,” said Ms Agarwal.
Deputy commissioner Mr Pramod highlighted the development works being carried out by the corporation in Karol Bagh Zone.
