CM Kejriwal's remark on outsiders in low taste: Manoj Tiwari
New Delhi: Delhi BJP president Manoj Tiwari, on Monday, accused chief minister Arvind Kejriwal of humiliating people from Bihar and other states, a day after the chief minister claimed that the influx of patients from other states was the reason behind long queues at government hospitals in the national capital.
Mr Tiwari said, “If a person from Bihar or any other state gets treatment in Delhi, why does it pain Mr Kejriwal? He has shown his hatred once again.”
Laying the foundation stone of a new 362-bed trauma centre at the Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital on Sunday, Mr Kejriwal had claimed that patients from other states were a big reason behind long queues at government hospitals in the city.
He had termed the healthcare system of his government as unmatched and said that medicines and treatment were free of cost, which attracted people from other states.
“Now, it so happens that a person from Bihar buys a (travel) ticket for '500, reaches Delhi, gets free of cost operation worth '5 lakh, and returns home. It gives joy that they are people of the country and they should get treatment and be happy. But Delhi has its capacity. How can it treat everyone in the country?” Mr Kejriwal said.
Reacting to the chief minister’s comments, Mr Tiwari said: “If Mr Kejriwal has any personal and political enmity with me, he may say anything directly. Why humiliate people from Bihar, UP, and other states by flaunting the health services of his government?” Former Union minister Vijay Goel said that BJP will not tolerate the humiliation of people from Bihar and other states. He demanded that Mr Kejriwal apologise for his comment and warned that if Mr Kejriwal failed to apologise, BJP will organise a massive protest across the city.
Slamming the Delhi BJP, AAP leader and Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Singh said that BJP has no issues to raise for the upcoming Assembly polls and that this is why it is making baseless allegations.
“BJP is a party that has thrown people from UP and Bihar from states ruled by it, whether it was Gujarat or through NRC in Assam. But then no one talked about it from BJP,” Mr Singh added.
