Will reach out to everyone, says Manoj Tiwari
New Delhi: The newly-appointment Delhi BJP president Manoj Tiwari said he will visit each of the 70 Assembly constituencies of Delhi to tell denizens how has the Arvind Kejriwal government fared in terms of fulfilling the 70-point promise it made before the February 2015 elections. Accusing the AAP government of “looting” public money, he told Shashi Bhushan that the previous government in the national capital has done better in past with a similar budgetary expenditure.
Q: What will be your priorities as the president of BJP’s Delhi state unit?
Manoj Tiwari: The priority of BJP party leadership and Prime Minister Narendra Modi is to reach out to the common men and take every possible measure to make their lives better. As a disciplined soldier of the world’s largest party, I will reach out to people across the national capital in next 10 days to ask them about the problems they are facing. With the help of the Modi government, we will try to resolve the problems that Delhiites face.
Q: How do you plan to reach out Delhiites?
MT: Moving away from the tradition when people used to reach party office to meet leaders, from Thursday onwards, we will be meeting them in their areas. In the next ten days, I will be visiting each of the 70 Assembly constituencies and try to interact with maximum number of people.
Q: Your biggest challenge is next municipal polls as the BJP will be facing the anti-incumbency factor, how is the BJP planning to defeat the anti-incumbency it faces?
MT: Anti-incumbency is the biggest challenge in the civic polls but we deal it with the good works of the three corporations. There are some shortcomings in the functioning of municipal corporations, but we still have four months’ time and we will rectify it.
There is perception that municipal corporations are one of the most corrupt department and councillors are also making money through illegal means. I am asking BJP councillors to submit detail of banking transactions from November 8 to December 31 as prime minister directed MPs and MLAs to do.
Q: The AAP will be making a debut in next year civic polls and challenging your party with Congress. How will BJP tackle AAP?
MT: The AAP, a party which came to fight corruption, has been exposed after demonetisation. Mr Kejriwal and the AAP are now standing with black marketers and the corrupt. Mr Kejriwal and his government have failed to deliver their responsibility which was entrusted by the people with historic mandate. Previous Delhi government with same or less budget have done better in the past. The city has a non-functional chief minister who has been running away from his responsibilities. I simply want to ask Mr Kejriwal and AAP that who is looting the public exchquer – where is all the money meant for development gone.
