SDMC installs CCTVs in 40 schools

To ensure proper monitoring, every zone will constitute a team in their respective zone.

New Delhi: With an aim to provide security to the students, the South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) has installed CCTV cameras in 40 schools. SDMC mayor Shyam Sharma said that the corporation is committed to provide foolproof security to the students enrolled in the schools and to ensure their security, CCTV cameras will be installed in all schools.

”The SDMC is effectively managing its 581 schools. The cameras installed in the schools will be monitored. Such monitoring would commence in 40 more schools where the cameras are installed. The monitoring mechanism will also keep an eye over security of all children and issues related to qualitative delivery of education,” said Mr Sharma.

To ensure proper monitoring, every zone will constitute a team in their respective zone. The SDMC’s control room will also enable the officers sitting in the civic centre to monitor the security of students in the school.

In an attempt to illuminate the entire area under its jurisdiction, including 2,500 dark spots, the South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) had earlier on Monday said that the corporation will start the installation of 75,000 energy efficient LED lights from the first week of December.

Chairman of the SDMC standing committee Shalinder Singh Monti had said that the installation of all these lights will be completed by the third week of January next year and the entire area will be illuminated, hence creating a record of switching over to the LED lights in the minimum possible time.
