New Delhi doctors hold token stir, propose nationwide strike

The Federation of Resident Doctors’ Association (FORDA) has threatened to go on strike if their demands on the bill are not met.

New Delhi: Scores of doctors and medical students across the country and in the national capital halted their work for two hours in protest against the National Medical Commission (NMC) Bill. 

The IMA has threatened that they will go on a nationwide strike if the bill is passed in its present form.

The Federation of Resident Doctors’ Association (FORDA) has threatened to go on strike if their demands on the bill are not met. 

Meanwhile, the doctors in the national capital on Monday held a token strike in various hospitals including AIIMS, Lady Hardinge Medical College among other city hospitals. 

“The NMC Bill, if passed in the current form,  will only lead to continuation nation-wide strike of doctors and medical students,” the IMA has said. 

“The Indian Medical Association (IMA) has been referring about all these concerns to the Centre for over two years. Despite many stirs, the government has ignored our demands. We have run out of all options, but to withdraw their services,” the association said. 

“Fee regulation in private colleges remains unaddressed.The percentage of medical seats will be left to the private managements,” it said.
