CM Arvind Kejriwal is shielding illegal school cabs, vans, says BJP
New Delhi: Leader of opposition in Delhi Assembly, Vijender Gupta on Wednesday blamed chief minister Arvind Kejriwal for shielding the illegally-run school buses and cabs as the 'magisterial inquiry' into the accident near Kanihya Nagar has found.
Mr Gupta alleged that the action against illegal school vehicles was stopped August last year following the chief minister's intervention. He said the inquiry found that the school van was involved in the accident had outlived its permitted life span of 15 years.
In the incident, one girl child lost her life and 17 others were injured in the accident which took place on April 26.
Mr Gupta said that the transport department carried out a special drive during July and August, 2017 against the school buses and cabs running illegally in Delhi.
“The department had impounded 751 school vans and 25 buses running without commercial permits.”
However, the school cab and van owners met chief minister Arvind Kejriwal in August 2017 who granted them a time up to January 2018 in order to seek regular permits and get them regularised as per rules," alleged the leader of opposition.
