New Delhi: In a shocking incident of hit-and-run case, an SUV hit a government official from behind in Delhi’s Chanakyapuri area on Sunday. The victim alleged that the driver was under the influence of alcohol.

According to the information, the victim, Hira lal Meena (41), who works in the Lok Sabha Secretariat, was going for some official work, when near the Ashok Hotel, a Haryana number Toyota Fortuner hit him from behind. He suffered injuries in the chest and legs.

Meena alleged that the driver of the vehicle was carrying a glass of alcohol in one hand and was holding the steer with another hand.

After the accident, the engine of the car turned off, but the accused started it again and fled from the spot. When he was trying to flee, the victim noted down the registration number of the vehicle.

The police said that the victim is out of danger and a case has been registered.
