New Delhi: In a shocking incident, a Class 11 student was injured after being stabbed by a junior following a fight at a government school in Shahdara’s Krishna Nagar area, said the police on Thursday.

The incident took place inside the school premises after the morning prayers. The victim sustained injuries on his hands, legs, and back. He has been hospitalised and is said to be stable.

According to sources, the accused student has been apprehended and will be presented before the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB). Subsequently, he will be sent to an observation home.

According to information, the incident took place at the Government Boys school in Krishna Nagar. Both the boys had a fight on Wednesday. After the morning prayers on Thursday the duo got into a scuffle in the school playground.

During the tussle one of the students took out a knife and hit Mohammad Umar Ansari (17). He sustained four stab wounds on his back and one on his leg.

Seeing the gravity of the situation the school administration and teachers intervened and took the injured to Hedgewar Hospital. After being informed, the relatives of the victim reached the hospital. The school administration later informed the police about the incident.

The police is now waiting to get a formal complaint from the victim’s kin to take further action. Meanwhile, other students and their parents are scared after the incident and allege that this type of incident depicts the incompetency of the school administration.
