New Delhi: As the Dusu elections are approaching closer, the city police has increased vigil in and around the North campus areas.

A senior Delhi police official said that they have increased patrolling in the campus and its nearby areas. “We are also meeting top university officials and students’ union members. We don’t want to leave any stone unturned,” the police official said. The forces on the campus will be deployed since 6 am in the morning and only the students who will exercise their franchise will be allowed to enter the campus premises on the polling day. A few routes will also be re-directed due to security reasons.

“To prevent violence between the students union leaders we are planning to increase night patrolling. Women police personnel will also be deployed in plain clothes to avoid eve-teasing cases,” the source added. Keeping in view the last time arrangements, the official said, they will focus more on patrolling in night as fight often take place during nights over issue of pasting posters and writing slogans on university walls.
